After Sokoto rally, Tinubu officials held late night meeting to plot judgement against Atiku, we are gathering facts to engage Trump administration – US Lobby Firm
Von Batten-Montague-York, a United States-based lobbying firm representing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of allegedly attempting to manipulate Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election following the reported Federal High Court judgment on the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on X, the firm alleged that the timing of the court ruling was suspicious, claiming it came amid growing political support for Atiku and concerns within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the opposition campaign.
The lobbyist argued that the development came at a time when the Republican-controlled United States Congress was facing pressure from Democrats preparing to investigate Tinubu’s mining Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to the statement, the firm believes the Nigerian government had chosen an unfavourable moment to pursue what it described as an alleged attempt to influence the forthcoming presidential election.
It further claimed that officials of the Tinubu administration held a meeting on Wednesday night after the large turnout recorded at Atiku’s campaign rally in Sokoto State.
The firm, however, did not provide evidence to substantiate its allegation that the meeting took place or that it was connected to the court judgment.
The statement also alleged that the ruling was politically motivated and intended to frustrate Atiku’s presidential ambition.
Von Batten-Montague-York said it was gathering further information and planned to engage senior officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump, as well as Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Congress.
The lobbyist warned that the alleged actions of the Nigerian government could heighten political tensions and potentially push the country towards unrest, with implications for American interests and regional stability.
The statement adds an international dimension to the controversy surrounding the ADC leadership dispute and the reported court decision affecting the Senator David Mark-led leadership.
The ADC has indicated its intention to challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
Detailed Statement reads;
With an angry @Republicans caucus in control of Congress until January 2027 and emboldened congressional @TheDemocrats preparing to investigate President Bola Tinubu’s mining MOU, the Nigerian Presidency (@officialABAT) picked the wrong time to pull off its latest alleged attempt to rig the upcoming Nigerian presidential election.
Apparently scared by yesterday’s turnout in support of former Nigerian Vice President @atiku Abubakar, who happens to be President Tinubu’s main political opponent, Tinubu’s officials reportedly met last night, and the result of that meeting is allegedly this highly suspicious court ruling.
We are gathering more information and will be engaging with senior members of the @realDonaldTrump administration, as well as Republicans and Democrats in Congress. The alleged actions of President Tinubu risk pushing Nigeria closer to political unrest, with dire consequences for U.S. interests and regional stability.
