Ahmadu Fintiri, the Governor of Adamawa State, on Friday announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
In a statewide broadcast, the governor disclosed that he moved to the new party alongside members of his cabinet and officials of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Fintiri said the decision followed wide consultations with political stakeholders and supporters across Adamawa, adding that the move was aimed at aligning the state with the government at the centre.
He said his action was for the developmental interest of the people of Adamawa State.
