Tinubu receives finance minister-designate Taiwo Oyedele in Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received the Minister of State for Finance-designate, Taiwo Oyedele, at the State House in Abuja for his first official audience since his appointment.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both men to discuss Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal reform agenda and strategies to strengthen the country’s public finance management.
Before his appointment, Oyedele had been involved in engagements with the President and other top government officials on issues relating to tax reforms, revenue mobilisation and broader economic policy initiatives.
During those engagements, discussions focused on measures aimed at improving tax administration, expanding Nigeria’s revenue base and strengthening the country’s fiscal framework.
He served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, which produced the new consolidated tax laws of Nigeria.
As Minister of State for Finance, he is expected to work with the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Finance to advance policies designed to enhance revenue generation, promote fiscal discipline and improve the efficiency of the nation’s public finance system.
The appointment comes as the Tinubu administration continues to pursue reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, boosting government revenue and creating a more sustainable fiscal structure for national development.
