Moses, Adams shine as Nigeria beats Iran 2-1 in international friendly
Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over the Iran national team in an international friendly on Friday, with goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams sealing the win.
The Eagles made a bright start, taking the lead in the 7th minute when Simon converted an assist from Samuel Chukwueze. Nigeria maintained control and doubled their advantage early in the second half, as Adams finished off a well-worked move set up by Ademola Lookman in the 52nd minute.
Iran responded in the 67th minute through Mehdi Taremi, but Nigeria held firm to preserve their lead and secure the victory.
The friendly forms part of preparations under head coach Eric Chelle, who is using the fixtures to assess combinations and fine-tune the squad ahead of future competitive matches.
Nigeria will next face Jordan in another friendly on March 31 in Antalya, Turkey, as part of a four-nation tournament aimed at providing competitive action and aiding squad development.
Although the Super Eagles will not feature in the upcoming World Cup, these matches are seen as vital in rebuilding the team and sustaining momentum, with fans encouraged by the side’s attacking display and growing cohesion.
