Accord Party, Adeleke endorse Tinubu for 2027 presidential election
President Bola Tinubu has been adopted as the preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party.
The decision was reached during a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, attended by members of the party’s National Working Committee, state chairmen and other senior officials.
According to a statement issued by Adeleke’s re-election campaign spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, discussions centred on the future of the party, national development and preparations for the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Party leaders said their endorsement of Tinubu was driven by the need to ensure continuity in major Federal Government infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.
They also called for a peaceful and credible governorship election in Osun, urging all stakeholders to shun violence, intimidation, electoral malpractice and the alleged use of security agencies to harass political opponents.
The party appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other relevant institutions to provide a level playing field for all contestants.
The endorsement further strengthens the growing political relationship between Governor Adeleke and the Accord Party ahead of the August governorship election in Osun State.
Party leaders also expressed confidence in Adeleke’s re-election prospects and pledged to mobilise support across the state while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party nationwide.
Governor Adeleke has repeatedly declared his support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the endorsement as being in the interest of Osun State, the South-West and the successful completion of key federal infrastructure projects.
