Atiku visits Amaechi after ADC presidential primary
Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has paid a visit to his main rival in the party’s presidential primary, Rotimi Amaechi, shortly after winning the contest.
Atiku recently emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general election, defeating Amaechi and other contenders in the race.
However, Amaechi had earlier rejected the outcome, insisting that the election process was not fair and was affected by irregularities.
Despite the disagreement, Atiku’s visit is seen as an effort to reduce tension within the party and promote unity after a heated primary election.
Details of their meeting have not been made public, but it comes at a time when the party is trying to settle internal disputes and strengthen its position ahead of the next general elections.
However, Atiku had in his acceptance speech, called on Amaechi and other aggrieved ADC members to work with him.
Details of Thursday’s meeting have not been ascertained as the politicians are yet to address the press.
But it is believed that the move is part Atiku’s efforts to get Amaechi’s support for the presidential election.
