Bandits kill NSCDC officer, abduct daughter in fresh attack On Kogi community
A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified simply as Mr. Ayo, has been killed while his daughter was abducted during a fresh bandit attack on Odo-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to reports, the attack occurred on Monday evening, throwing the community into panic as heavily armed assailants invaded the area.
Sources said the NSCDC officer was shot by the attackers during the assault and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. However, he later died from injuries sustained during the attack.
The gunmen were also reported to have abducted the officer’s first daughter before fleeing the community.
Residents expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the area and called on security agencies to urgently step up efforts to prevent further attacks.
The latest incident has heightened fears among residents of Odo-Ere and neighbouring communities, where repeated cases of kidnappings and violent attacks have become a growing concern.
The attack comes amid rising insecurity across parts of Kogi and neighbouring Kwara State, with residents repeatedly urging authorities to take stronger measures against banditry and abductions.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not issued an official statement on the killing of the NSCDC officer and the abduction of his daughter.
