Benue APC delegates involved in road accident on way to rally
Several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State have sustained serious injuries after a bus conveying them to a party rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.
The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday morning in Lafia, a few kilometres from the venue of the rally.
The exact number of injured delegates had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report. However, the victims were reportedly evacuated to hospitals in Lafia for medical attention.
The incident was confirmed by Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the State Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada faction of the APC in Benue State, who said no life was lost in the crash.
“The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital,” Ihomun said.
The accident comes months after a similar incident involving APC delegates from Benue State travelling to Lafia for a party event.
On March 25, 2026, three delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State died, while about 10 others sustained injuries when the bus conveying them from Makurdi to Lafia was involved in an accident.
The delegates were travelling to attend the APC North-Central Zonal Congress when the fatal crash occurred.
