BREAKING: Bandits storm Kwara community, kill soldiers, residents in night attack
Armed bandits on Monday launched a deadly raid on Kemanji village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving many people feared dead, Very Nigerian reports.
According to security sources, the attack occurred around 3 a.m., as the gunmen stormed the community and unleashed violence on residents. The incident also reportedly claimed the lives of some soldiers.
It was gathered that security operatives, including personnel of the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, confronted the attackers in a fierce gun battle. The exchange of gunfire reportedly lasted until about 5 a.m.
Very Nigerian gathered that a few soldiers were killed during the attack, though the full extent of the damage caused by the attack could not be ascertained as of the time of this report.
Recall that armed bandits recently invaded Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, killed scores, burnt houses and abducted over 100 residents who are still in captivity.
In another development, suspected bandits on Sunday reportedly attacked Ora Ayegbaju in Obbo-Ile, Ekiti local government area.
Three brothers were fatally injured during the attack which occurred at about 22:00hrs, while others fled for safety.
The three injured were identified as AbdulJareem Adamu, AbdulJareem Yunusa and AbdulJareem Yusuf.
The three injured brothers are currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Osi town.
Authorities were yet to respond to the two developments on Monday
