BREAKING: Baruwa faction storms NURTW secretariat, unseats MC Oluomo
A faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by Tajudeen Baruwa has taken control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, Very Nigerian reports.
The development occurred early Monday when members loyal to Baruwa stormed the union’s headquarters and assumed control.
The move is the latest twist in the ongoing leadership crisis within the NURTW, which has pitted Baruwa against Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.
Both factions have been locked in a prolonged struggle for control of the union since 2024.
Members of the NURTW had elected MC Olumo as National President in November 2024.
However, the court ruled in favor of Baruwa when the dispute led to a lawsuit.
Despite the court ruling, MC Olumo has continued to operate as President.
