The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has awarded N100 million in damages to two operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in a defamation suit filed against the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

The operatives, who instituted the case in their personal capacity, accused SERAP of making defamatory claims against them.

The court, in its judgment, ruled in their favour and ordered the payment of N100 million as compensation for the damage to their reputation.

Details of the specific defamatory statements and the court’s full reasoning were not immediately disclosed.
