The Kwankwasiyya Movement has formally directed its members nationwide to register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signalling a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, disclosed that its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has concluded arrangements to join the opposition coalition seeking to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the statement, Kwankwaso is expected to formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road in Kano.

Following this development, members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement have been instructed to immediately proceed with registration in the ADC across their respective wards, local government areas, and states. They were also encouraged to actively participate in party activities and contribute to its growth at all levels.

The movement described the decision as strategic and in the best interest of its supporters and the nation, noting that it aligns with its commitment to democratic ideals, good governance, and inclusive development.

It further stressed the need to safeguard democracy and uphold the will of the people, reaffirming that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains united and focused on building a better Nigeria.

The move is expected to significantly reshape opposition politics as realignments intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle.
