BREAKING: Third group of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa lands in Lagos

Published

on

The third batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos following weeks of anti-immigration protests and rising xenophobic tensions in the country.

The evacuees were flown home aboard an Air Peace aircraft, which landed at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, at about 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday.

The latest evacuation is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to bring home Nigerians affected by the unrest in South Africa, where demonstrations targeting foreign nationals have heightened fears over the safety of migrants.

Officials are expected to receive the returnees and provide the necessary assistance as the evacuation exercise continues.
