Celine Dion steps out publicly after two years ahead of Paris return

Canadian music icon Céline Dion has made a rare public appearance in Paris as she prepares to return to the stage.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer was spotted outside her hotel in the French capital on Friday, August 28. Dion stepped out wearing a beige trench coat and sunglasses as she greeted fans and photographers gathered outside.

Her appearance comes ahead of her highly anticipated series of performances in Paris, which are scheduled to begin in September.

The upcoming shows will mark an important return to live performances for the celebrated singer, who has kept a relatively low public profile in recent years.

The shows will mark her return to the stage after her memorable performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dion previously described the upcoming residency as a special birthday gift to herself.

In a video announcing the shows in March, she told fans, “This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life. I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you.”

The Grammy-winning singer has spent the past several years dealing with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder she publicly disclosed in 2022. The condition caused severe muscle spasms and affected her ability to perform.

Despite the challenges, Dion has remained determined to return to music. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month, she said she wanted to give her fans something that reflected how much she had missed them.

“It’s been so long, I would like to offer them something to show how I’ve missed them,” she said.

Dion previously revealed that she had been working extensively with medical and fitness professionals to regain the strength required to perform.

“The way I see it, I have two choices,” she said. “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over.”

Her upcoming Paris performances are expected to continue through May 2027, marking a significant new chapter in her career following years away fromregular live performances.
