BREAKING: ‘Coat of Many Colors’ singer Dolly Parton dies at 80
American singer, songwriter and actress Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Parton’s death was confirmed on Tuesday by her nephew and security chief, Bryan Seever, in a video shared on the singer’s official social media platforms.
The legendary country music star was one of the most influential figures in American music, with a career spanning several decades and a lasting impact on popular culture.
Parton rose to international fame through her distinctive voice and songwriting, producing several enduring hits, including “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Her songs became global classics, with “I Will Always Love You” achieving renewed worldwide popularity after Whitney Houston’s celebrated rendition.
According to Seever, Parton had chosen the words “I Will Always Love You” as her final farewell, adding an emotional touch to the announcement of her death.
Parton’s death marks the end of an era for American country music and leaves behind a remarkable legacy as a singer, songwriter, actress and cultural icon.
