Falconets blaze ahead in WAFU B U20 Girls Cup, crush Benin 3-0
Janet Akekoromowei and Ramotalahi Kareem have guided Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, to strong victories in the ongoing WAFU B U20 Girls Cup in Bénin Republic, each scoring twice in crucial matches against Ghana and the host nation, Bénin Republic.
On Saturday, Akekoromowei scored a brace while Favour Nkwocha added another goal as the Falconets overwhelmed Ghana’s Black Princesses in their opening game.
The following day, Kareem found the net twice, first in the 15th minute and again on the hour, before Precious Oscar sealed a 3-0 win in the closing moments against Bénin Republic.
With only three teams in the tournament, each side will face one another twice.
The Falconets, leading with six points and a plus-five goal difference, will next confront Ghana on Tuesday, before wrapping up the first round against the hosts on Wednesday.
