Falconets crash out of 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup after 1-0 loss to Colombia
Nigeria’s Falconets have been knocked out of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after losing 1-0 to Colombia in Lodz on Sunday.
Moses Aduku’s team controlled much of the first half, with Janet Akekoromowei coming close to scoring after her effort hit the crossbar.
Tumininu Adeshina also tested Colombian goalkeeper Luisa Agudelo, who made a save to deny the Nigerian forward.
The Falconets continued to dominate after the break, piling pressure on Colombia’s defence in search of an equaliser.
Momentum however shifted towards Colombia after Kafayat Mafisere was sent off in the 77th minute.
The South Americans capitalised on the numerical advantage to score the winning goal through Valerin Loboa in stoppage time.
