Federal High Court judge Mohammed Yunusa passes away
Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court has passed away.
The sad development was confirmed by the court’s Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, who disclosed that the judge died on May 21 after a brief illness.
Until his death, Justice Yunusa served at the Kano division of the Federal High Court, where he handled several important cases during his time on the bench.
His death has thrown the judiciary into mourning, with colleagues and associates paying tribute to his service and dedication to the legal profession.
Part of a statement by the court’s spokesperson reads: “His Lordship passed away at the State Medical Centre, Kano, and has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
“Hon. Justice M. N. Yunusa was a distinguished jurist who served with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the administration of justice.
“His immense contributions to the Bench and the legal profession will be fondly remembered and greatly cherished by his colleagues, members of the outer Bar, court staff and all who had the privilege of working with him.
“The Chief Judge, judges, management and staff of the Federal High Court extend their heartfelt condolences to members of his immediate family and pray that the Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”
