FG begins rollout of digital postcode system for Nigerian homes
The Federal Government has officially commenced the rollout of the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System, a major initiative aimed at assigning a unique digital postcode to every residential address across Nigeria.
The development was disclosed on Friday by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, who announced that the implementation process is already underway.
According to him, the new digital addressing system will provide every home in the country with a unique alphanumeric postcode, a move expected to improve location identification, mail delivery, emergency response, security operations, and access to public services.
Olusegun stated that the rollout has begun, marking the start of what is expected to become a nationwide digital addressing framework for all households in Nigeria
He said, “Every home in Nigeria will get a unique digital postcode as part of the ongoing National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System rollout.
“This process has already commenced.
“The implementation of this system ensures Nigeria has a smarter, more secure, and digitally enabled addressing system that will improve service delivery, strengthen emergency response, and unlock new opportunities across our economy.
“The administration of President Tinubu is committed to reforming every aspect of our economy in order to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a $1trn economy by 2030.”
