First Bank MD receives envelope containing live ammunition, Lagos police launch manhunt

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation after two live rounds of ammunition were reportedly delivered in an envelope to the residence of the Managing Director of First Bank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the command headquarters on Tuesday.

According to the police commissioner, the suspicious package was delivered by a dispatch rider and initially received by security personnel at Alebiosu’s residence before being handed over to the bank chief.

Fatai said that upon opening the envelope, Alebiosu discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed inside, with no accompanying message, letter, or identifying information.

The police boss stated that the incident has been classified as a serious security matter and that detectives have launched a detailed investigation to determine the source, motive, and circumstances surrounding the delivery.

He added that investigators are examining all available leads, including the dispatch process and the individuals involved in transporting the parcel.

The police assured the public that the matter is receiving adequate attention and that all necessary steps are being taken to uncover those responsible.
