Gov Radda inaugurates Judges, emphasises timely, fair Justice delivery
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Monday officially swore in three new judges of the Katsina State High Court, calling on them to uphold public trust with integrity and fairness.
The newly appointed judges are Barrister Maryam Umaru Abdullahi, Barrister Shamsuddeen Abdurrahman Ƴammama, and Barrister Abubakar Muhammad Dikko.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House, Katsina, and was attended by dignitaries from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, and families of the appointees.
Governor Radda described the occasion as “a remarkable milestone in the state’s judicial history,” noting that the appointments would strengthen the judiciary and enhance effective justice delivery across Katsina State.
He commended the State Judicial Service Commission for conducting a merit-based selection process that produced qualified and credible judges.
Profiles of the Appointees:
Justice Maryam Umaru Abdullahi holds degrees from the University of Abuja and the United Kingdom. She has served as State Solicitor, Head of the Notary Public Unit at the Supreme Court, and Deputy Director at the National Judicial Institute.
Justice Shamsuddeen Abdurrahman Ƴammama, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with two Master’s degrees including Oil and Gas Law from the UK, has experience in academia, the National Judicial Institute, and the National Assembly.
Justice Abubakar Muhammad Dikko is a seasoned legal practitioner with over 20 years at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, where he served as Head of Litigation, and holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Abuja.
Governor Radda urged the judges to reflect regularly on their oaths of office, stressing that their positions are sacred trusts before God and the people.
He emphasised the judiciary’s critical role as the last hope for the common man, particularly the poor and voiceless, and highlighted the importance of timely justice delivery to maintain public confidence in the judicial system.
He reassured that his administration would continue to support the judiciary and legislature to foster harmony among the three arms of government, stating, “There is nothing we can achieve as a state without a strong and effective judicial system. The judiciary remains the backbone of peace, order, and justice in our society.”

The Governor prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, and fairness for the new judges as they begin their service, urging them to perform their duties diligently and with sincerity.
