Jubilation as Ooni of Ife officially presents twin sons at palace ceremony (Photos)

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has officially presented his twin sons to the public during a colourful homecoming ceremony at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The royal ceremony attracted traditional chiefs, dignitaries, members of the royal household and other well-wishers who gathered to celebrate with the monarch and his family.

A video shared by City Edge TV on Instagram on Friday showed the Ooni seated in the palace while proudly holding his two newborn sons, one in each hand.

The colourful event marked a special moment for the monarch as he welcomed the princes into the royal household and presented them to members of the public.

The Ooni, who is one of Nigeria’s prominent traditional rulers, was surrounded by palace officials and guests during the ceremony as the royal family celebrated the arrival of the twins.

Dressed in white traditional attire, a matching cap and strands of red coral beads, the Ooni smiled as he carried the twins, who were also dressed in white outfits with small traditional caps.

The formal gathering provided a public glimpse of the royal twins, whose arrival was announced by the monarch nearly four months ago.

On May 15, 2026, the Ooni announced the birth of the boys with his wife, Olori Mariam Ajibola Ogunwusi, in a Facebook post.

“To God be all the glory… Warmest congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and to Olori Mariam Ajibola on the joyous arrival of twin princes… both mother and children are in good health,” he wrote.

The royal family subsequently held a grand traditional naming ceremony at the Ile-Ife Palace on May 31.

The latest gathering, however, is primarily a public homecoming and formal presentation of the twins to members of the royal household, traditional leaders and well-wishers.

The palace grounds were filled with guests dressed in white traditional outfits, including agbadas, caps and coral beads.

The celebration comes months after the birth and naming of the twins and offered another opportunity for the royal family to publicly celebrate their arrival.
