Kwara: 70 killed in bandit attack buried en masse

Seventy people have been reportedly buried en masse on Wednesday afternoon in Woro Community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a bandit attack on Tuesday evening, a local source who preferred anonymity told Very Nigerian.

The Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Alhaji Abubabar Abdullahi Danladi, led a delegation to visit the affected communities on Wednesday to assess the situation.

Alhaji Umar Saliu Tanko, a survivor and head of Woro Village, told the chairman that he was away from home when the bandits struck. He provided details of the attack during discussions with the local government officials.

He said that in anger,the bandits killed his daughter, two sons and abducted his junior wife with two other persons.

According to him,”I was away at in my shop where I’m selling goods when army of bandits arrived my residence Tuesday evening.

“My daughter and two sons were shot dead while my second wife and two others were abducted.”

Another survivors one Razaq Abdulazeez said he has house in the outskirts of town and was returning home late in the afternoon when he saw people running towards the outskirts of town

“I was returning home from work when saw many people running towards my area.

“I asked what happened and was told that they were running to escape the wrath of bandits who came to attack the community.

“I increased my speed to my house, packed my family members and we escaped to the far bush in the outskirts of town.

“Many people who couldn’t ran out of town escaped to the top of trees to avoid bandits attack.”he said
