Meet Ibrahim Ida, newly appointed CAC Chairman
Ibrahim M. Ida is a seasoned Nigerian banker, administrator, and former lawmaker who has now been appointed Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Born on January 15, 1949, in Katsina State, Ida built a distinguished career spanning banking, public service, and politics.
He obtained an Associate of the Institute of Bankers qualification in London in 1977, a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan in 1983, and later pursued a law degree (LLB) and was called to the Bar (BL) at the University of Abuja in 2003.
He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
He represented Katsina Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011, where he contributed to key legislative committees such as Rules and Business, Finance, Defence and Army, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Before his time in the Senate, Ida had already established himself in the civil service, serving as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and holding several top federal roles, including Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of National Planning and Defence, as well as Permanent Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Presidency.
He also served as Director-General of the National Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission and played a key role in the establishment of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
Beyond government service, he has served on the boards of several major institutions, including the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), and the National Maritime Authority, now known as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
A respected traditional titleholder, Ida holds the titles of Wazirin Katsina and Sardaunan Katsina and is a member of the Katsina Emirate Council.
His latest appointment signals a return to national prominence, bringing decades of experience in governance, finance, and administration to his new role.
