Only thieves, mad people will vote for Tinubu in 2027 — Amaechi
The Vice-Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has launched a fresh attack on President Bola Tinubu, telling voters in Edo State that only “mad people” would support the President in the 2027 election.
Amaechi made the remark while addressing supporters as the ADC continues its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The former Rivers State governor said he believed Edo voters should reject Tinubu at the polls, linking his appeal to his criticism of the President’s administration.
“Only mad people will vote for Tinubu. If Edo people vote for President Tinubu, that means Edo people are mad. If you’re not mad, Tinubu should not win here,” Amaechi said.
The statement comes amid intensified political mobilisation in Edo State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu’s supporters in the state have also been campaigning for his re-election. Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has publicly backed Tinubu and urged APC members to work towards retaining the President in office, while APC leaders in the state have pledged a strong grassroots mobilisation effort.
Amaechi, who is running alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the ADC ticket, has repeatedly criticised Tinubu’s economic policies, particularly over the cost of living, fuel prices and transportation costs. He recently said he would withdraw from the ADC ticket and campaign for Tinubu if petrol sells for ₦600 per litre.
His latest comment is likely to generate reactions from both supporters of the Tinubu administration and opposition groups as the 2027 political campaigns gather momentum.
