Protests have reportedly erupted in parts of northern Nigeria following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.

Demonstrations were said to have taken place in Kaduna, where groups of Muslim faithful gathered to protest the Iran–Israel conflict and mourn the Iranian leader.

Similar protests were also reported in Sokoto and Niger State, with mourners expressing grief over the death of the long-serving Iranian cleric.

The demonstrations followed reports that Iranian state media confirmed the death of Khamenei after coordinated airstrikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel on Tehran, as earlier reported by Very Nigerian.

According to the broadcast, the Iranian Supreme Leader was said to have died after precision strikes targeted a fortified bunker within his palace compound. Authorities in Iran reportedly declared 40 days of national mourning in honour of the late leader.

Khamenei, who ruled Iran since 1989, wielded ultimate authority over the country’s political and religious institutions and remained a central figure in Iran’s long-standing tensions with Western nations and Israel.

His reported death has triggered reactions across parts of the Muslim world, with supporters holding prayers and demonstrations in solidarity with Iran.
