Rodri, Mbappe shine as FIFA unveils 2026 World Cup award winners
Spain were crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final played on Sunday night.
La Roja controlled the match for long periods and created the better chances, but they had to wait until the second half of extra time before finding the breakthrough.
Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal after connecting with a brilliant knockdown from Nico Williams, firing home to hand Spain a famous victory.
The hard-fought win secured Spain’s second FIFA World Cup title and crowned the European champions as the best team in the world after an impressive tournament campaign.
It is Spain’s second world title, after they won the 2010 edition in South Africa.
