Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature for Portugal national football team in next week’s international friendlies due to injury concerns.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Friday, the decision followed discussions between Al Nassr and the Portugal national team’s backroom staff.

Both parties agreed to prioritise the forward’s full recovery, opting to leave him out of the squad to avoid further complications.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Portugal squad for the friendly games next week as he’s still injured.

Priority to full recovery after discussions between Al Nassr and Portugal backroom staff,” the post read.

Ronaldo is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and medical teams have opted against risking further complications ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.

His absence is seen as a precautionary measure, ensuring the veteran forward regains full fitness before returning to action for both club and country.

The five-time Balon d’Or winner so far has scored 22 goals across competitions for Al Nassr.

Portugal will play the United States on Mexico on March 28 and the United States on March 31

These matches are part of Portugal’s final preparations before the FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
