Nigeria fall 2–1 to Portugal in International Friendly
Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat to Portugal in an international friendly match as the European side concluded their World Cup preparations with back-to-back victories.
Pedro Neto opened the scoring for Portugal, giving the hosts an early advantage in a tightly contested encounter. Nigeria, however, responded through Akor Adams, who restored parity and brought the Super Eagles back into the game.
The equaliser briefly shifted momentum in Nigeria’s favour, but Portugal eventually reclaimed the lead through substitute Francisco Conceição, whose well-taken curling strike into the far corner proved decisive.
Despite a spirited performance and moments of attacking promise, the Super Eagles were unable to find another equaliser as the match ended 2–1 in favour of the hosts.
The result sees Portugal head into the World Cup on a positive note, recording consecutive wins in their final preparations, while Nigeria will reflect on a competitive outing that ended in a narrow defeat.
