Second batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa arrive Lagos

The second batch of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa has arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

The 66 returnees landed at about 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing evacuation exercise approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Their arrival follows the successful return of the first batch of evacuees on June 11, when 258 Nigerians were flown back home aboard a chartered Air Peace flight.

The evacuation exercise is aimed at assisting Nigerians affected by the ongoing situation in South Africa and ensuring their safe return to the country. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the process as arrangements are made for the welfare and reintegration of the returnees.
