TCN announces scheduled maintenance at Niger substation
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced that it will carry out maintenance work on major equipment at its Zungeru Transmission Substation in Niger State on February 18 and 19, 2026.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance exercise will run from 11am to 5pm on both days.
She explained that the work will cover “the 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer, 5.5MVA 33/11kV transformer, and associated switchgears” located at the substation.
“Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) will still be able to supply electricity to their customers, specifically those taking supply from the transformer undergoing maintenance, as the load will be transferred to the second 150MVA transformer within the same substation.”
The TCN spokesperson, however, noted that some areas would experience temporary disruption during the process: “Kontagora, Tegina, Yauri, and environs will, however, experience a brief power interruption during the load transfer.”
Mbah explained that the planned exercise is part of efforts to maintain efficiency at the facility, stating that “the scheduled maintenance is to ensure that the equipment continues to perform optimally.”
The company urged members of the public to take note of the scheduled exercise.
