They can even kidnap all of us, but there is no vacancy in Aso Rock — Okpebholo
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has alleged that some individuals are sponsoring insecurity across the country in a bid to distract President Bola Tinubu and undermine his administration.
The governor made the remarks during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress campaign for the forthcoming local government council elections in Edo South Senatorial District.
“They can even kidnap all of us—yes, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” Okpebholo declared.
According to him, the recent rise in insecurity is politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing the image of the President.
“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today is the handiwork of the opposition,” he said.
The governor argued that insecurity would not help opposition politicians achieve their ambitions, stressing that kidnapping and violence would only worsen the country’s challenges.
“They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern. So let them give us peace so that we can rule well,” he added.
Okpebholo also praised Tinubu’s administration, saying the President has accomplished more than his predecessors and noting that the benefits of fuel subsidy removal are already visible through various development projects across Edo State.
He further commended candidates who emerged victorious in the APC primary elections and expressed confidence that their success would strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor reiterated his commitment to delivering on the party’s political targets, stating that electoral victories at the grassroots level would help realise the goal of securing 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
