President Bola Tinubu on Thursday welcomed the Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, at his residence in the Aso Rock Villa.

The meeting, held around 6:00 pm, was confirmed in a statement and photos released by the State House media office. Details of their discussions were not disclosed in the brief statement.

This visit comes almost a year after Prime Minister Drew’s previous engagement with President Tinubu on March 29, 2025, when the two leaders explored ways to deepen cooperation in agriculture, food security, energy, logistics, and trade. Following that meeting, President Tinubu visited St. Lucia in June 2025 to hold talks with CARICOM leaders, marking a first for a Nigerian President engaging directly with the Caribbean Community.

During the 2025 engagement, Drew had highlighted his government’s emphasis on food sovereignty and disclosed ongoing discussions with Nigerian companies to explore business opportunities across the Caribbean region. He described Africa as “the motherland” and expressed keen interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Nigeria.

President Tinubu described the previous engagement as a pivotal step for Africa to expand its global partnerships and enhance trade and diplomatic ties.

Nigeria and St. Kitts and Nevis maintain formal diplomatic relations through the Commonwealth of Nations, the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group, and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), despite neither country maintaining a resident embassy in the other’s capital. Accreditation is conducted through multilateral missions in New York and London.

Current bilateral trade between the two nations is modest, valued at under $500,000 annually, according to UN COMTRADE data, but both countries continue to explore avenues for increased cooperation.
