Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Italy international midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a deal worth up to a club-record £100 million ($133.4 million).
The 26-year-old becomes one of Tottenham’s biggest-ever signings as the North London club strengthens its squad ahead of the new season.
Speaking after the transfer was announced on Monday, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his delight at securing the midfielder’s signature.
“Sandro is a special player and a great signing for our club,” De Zerbi said.
Tonali joins Tottenham after spending time at Newcastle, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders following his move from Italy.
