The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has unanimously adopted Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

Adebutu emerged as the party’s preferred candidate on Sunday following consultations among party leaders, stakeholders, executives and members across the state.

Speaking after his emergence, the former federal lawmaker described the development as a “historic” moment and thanked party members for giving him the mandate to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.

He also assured supporters that the party remained united and fully prepared to reclaim power in Ogun State during the next election cycle.

Adebutu further pledged to work closely with party stakeholders and residents to deliver what he described as purposeful leadership if elected governor in 2027.

Adebutu urged PDP members across the state to maintain peace and unity, insisting that internal cohesion remained critical to the party’s electoral success.

“Peaceful coexistence is the only assurance that can guarantee our reclaiming of Ogun State from the hands of the clueless APC government and its allies,” he said.

According to him, Ogun State possesses abundant natural and human resources but continues to suffer from poor leadership and lack of direction.

“Our collective responsibility now should be focused on returning our party to the seat of power in Oke-Mosan in order to rescue our people from suffering,” he declared.

Adebutu also praised aspirants who stepped down for consensus arrangements at various levels within the party, saying their sacrifices reflected commitment to the PDP’s collective success.

“There is no loser among us; we have all won for the party and for the good people of Ogun State,” he said while calling on stakeholders and members to rally together ahead of the election.

He assured party faithful that the PDP would unveil its policy direction for governance “in due course,” promising that the party was prepared to deliver good governance and development for the state.
