2027: ‘I won’t go to every state with you’ — Tinubu tells APC campaign team
President Bola Tinubu has hinted that he may not visit all 36 states of the federation during his re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general election, citing the need to meet the country’s financial obligations.
Tinubu gave the indication on Wednesday while speaking at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Addressing members of the council, the President suggested that he might not accompany campaign officials to every state during the mobilisation exercise.
“You will excuse me from going everywhere with you. We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait,” he said.
The remark suggests that Tinubu may limit his physical participation in some campaign activities as the APC prepares to mobilise support for his re-election bid.
His reference to American creditors also drew attention to the financial obligations facing the Federal Government, although he did not provide further details about the specific obligations he was referring to in the quoted remarks.
The inauguration of the campaign council marks part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Further details of the President’s remarks and the campaign council’s plans are expected to emerge.
