Police arrest three robbery suspects, Nab alleged kidnapper in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected armed robbers in Ibadan, as part of efforts to curb crime in the state.

According to the command, the suspects were apprehended at different locations within the city following coordinated operations by security personnel.

The police also disclosed that an individual suspected to be involved in kidnapping activities was arrested during the same period.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, made this known in a statement issued to journalists in Ibadan, reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and tackling criminal activities across the state.

The statement was made available to Very Nigerian on Tuesday.

Ayanlade said that the three suspected armed robbers were arrested on Monday by policemen from Bodija Market Division.

He added that a toy pistol was recovered from the suspects.

He said, “On 6th April, 2026, at about 1230 hours, operatives attached to Bodija Market Division, while on routine stop-and-search duty along Awolowo Road, Bodija, intercepted a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number BDJ 386 QH.

“The motorcycle was ridden by one Godwin Cletus ‘M’, aged 26, and conveying two pillion passengers identified as Adedokun Isah ‘M’, aged 17, and Rafiu Usman ‘M’, aged 19, all residents of Gbaremu area, Ibadan”.

Ayanlade added that one Taye Adamu has been arrested in connection with kidnapping of some innocent citizens in the area.

He said, “On 5th April, 2026, at about 1650 hours, operatives attached to Ikoyi-Ile Division, acting on credible intelligence and sustained follow-up operations, successfully arrested one Taye Adamu ‘M’ at Iluju Village.

“The suspect is strongly believed to be a member of the same criminal syndicate whose members were arrested on 4th April, 2026”
