2027: Peter Obi, Kwankwaso supporters merge structures into OK Movement
Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have merged their political structures into a new platform known as the OK Movement.
The development was announced in a statement signed by Justin Ijeh, who said the group was founded on the belief that national renewal is not the task of one tribe but the responsibility of a united people.
According to the statement, the movement aims to unite Nigerians across ethnic, regional and religious divides to confront hardship, restore accountable leadership and drive what it described as a decisive national rebirth.
The group said Nigeria is currently facing a defining moment as citizens grapple with economic hardship, rising cost of living and persistent insecurity.
It described the unveiling of its national and state structures as more than a political development, calling it the birth of a coordinated nationwide platform for systemic reform.
The movement said many Nigerians, including farmers unable to work safely and entrepreneurs struggling in a difficult economy, are facing severe challenges, but insisted there is still hope for change.
According to the statement, its mission is built on the conviction that Nigeria can recover through disciplined leadership, competence and a government that works for all citizens rather than a privileged few.
The OK Movement also rejected what it called the old politics of tribalism, regionalism and religious sentiment, saying such divisions have long been used to weaken national unity while the country suffers.
It said the platform would mobilise citizens from the grassroots to the national level, promoting a shared identity based on integrity, collective responsibility and inclusive progress.
The group added that its vision is inspired by the ideals of justice, peace and shared prosperity as captured in the national anthem, insisting that Nigeria can still become a country where no citizen is oppressed and opportunities are available to all.
