Rivers High Court Judges to begin annual vacation July 20
The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, has approved the annual vacation for judges of the Rivers State High Court, with the break scheduled to begin on July 20.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by the Chief Registrar of the court, Mr. David Ihua-Maduenyi.
According to the statement, court activities will be suspended during the vacation period, while regular sittings are expected to resume on September 16.
The Chief Judge said the vacation is in line with Order 49, Rule 4(D) of the High Court of Rivers State Civil Procedure Rules, 2023 (as amended), adding that all judicial divisions across the state will remain closed during the period.
He described the annual vacation as a routine judicial practice meant to provide judges with a recess after a year of court duties.
Justice Chibuzor-Amadi, however, stated that arrangements have been made to handle urgent cases during the vacation period.
He explained that vacation judges would be appointed to hear matters requiring immediate judicial attention in order to ensure continued access to justice.
He added that the arrangement is aimed at preventing delays in time-sensitive cases.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that annual court vacation is a standard practice within the judiciary designed to enhance the efficient administration of justice.
