Terrorists attack Kebbi Community, set NSCDC post ablaze, abduct resident
Suspected terrorists on Saturday night attacked Tsamiya town in Kebbi State, destroying property and abducting a resident during the assault.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Sunday, disclosing that armed attackers stormed the community, fired sporadically and set several structures ablaze, including a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) checkpoint, a local brothel and the residence of a resident identified as Sule Mai Goge.
The attackers also kidnapped a community member, Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare, before fleeing the area.
Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams and additional security personnel to the affected community following reports of the attack.
According to him, security agencies responded swiftly and reinforced security in the area to prevent further attacks.
Usman said a full-scale investigation had commenced, while efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The police assured residents of Tsamiya and neighbouring communities that security operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored, urging members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and provide useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
The Command added that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
