Suspected gunmen have killed a middle-aged man, identified simply as Mr. Bulus, during a late-night attack on Ncha community in Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Danjuma Dickson Auta, confirmed the incident on Friday and condemned the killing, describing it as another unprovoked attack on peaceful residents of the area.

Auta said the assailants allegedly ambushed the victim on Thursday night, killed him, and dumped his body in a shallow stream before fleeing the scene.

Auta called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

A community member, Mr. Ewo Haruna, said residents woke up to the shocking news of the killing, describing the incident as tragic and another painful reminder of the persistent insecurity confronting the area.

In a separate attack on Thursday night, gunmen invaded Fubok village in Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area, injuring a pastor and two other persons.

Residents said the attackers struck late in the evening after allegedly attacking a nearby community where three persons were reportedly killed.

The pastor, identified as Pastor Philibus, was among those injured during the attack, while two members of his church sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Residents of the affected communities in both Bassa and Bokkos Local Government Areas expressed grief and frustration over the recurring attacks, saying the continued violence has left many families displaced and living in fear.

Efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Command Spokesman, SP Alfred Alabo, for further details were abortive.
