2027: Nigerian President must spend vacation in Nigeria, I’ll go to Sokoto for Sallah with the Sultan — Peter Obi
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said Nigeria’s President should spend vacation periods within the country rather than travelling abroad.
Obi made the statement during an exclusive interview with Arise TV, where he outlined how he intends to connect more closely with Nigerians if elected President in 2027.
According to the former Anambra State governor, a Nigerian president should use vacation periods to visit different parts of the country and experience the realities faced by citizens.
“Nigerian president must spend his vacation in Nigeria. He should go on vacation in Zamfara, in Borno, in Anambra. As president, I will go to Sokoto and spend Sallah with the Sultan,” Obi said.
He stressed the importance of national unity and direct engagement with Nigerians across different regions, saying the President should be physically present in different parts of the country.
Obi’s comments come as the 2027 presidential race gathers momentum, with candidates increasingly outlining their leadership styles and approaches to national unity.
