‘We Have What It Takes to Destroy Anyone Trying Us’ — Nwifuru fires warning at Wike’s Rainbow Coalition in Ebonyi

“I want to sound this way as your governor that we are not afraid. We have all it takes to destroy whoever is trying us,” Nwifuru said.

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has warned political opponents against what he described as attempts to test his administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Nwifuru issued the warning on Wednesday during a political event in Abakaliki, the state capital, while reacting to reports that President Bola Tinubu had allegedly handed Ebonyi State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The governor dismissed the reports and said he was not intimidated by the development, insisting that his political camp had the capacity to confront anyone attempting to challenge them.

“This sentiment came out on the grounds that some people are going around saying that they discussed with Mr President that he has given Ebonyi to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“They also said that the President has given Ebonyi to their leader, Nyesom Wike. We sympathise with them.

“I want to sound this way as your governor that we are not afraid. We have all it takes to destroy whoever is trying us,” Nwifuru said.

The governor’s remarks came amid growing political activity ahead of the February 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State.

Nwifuru has also been engaged in a separate public disagreement with socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, following criticism of his administration.

Speaking at an APC rally on Sunday, the governor responded to Chief Priest’s call for him to step down over alleged poor performance.

Chief Priest had questioned why Nwifuru, after almost three years in office, had allegedly failed to complete major projects capable of leaving a lasting impact on the state.

The socialite also alleged that Ebonyi was the only state in the South-East yet to experience significant development, claiming that its leaders were “not wise enough” and remained stuck in the past.

Chief Priest has publicly backed the PDP governorship candidate in Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Odii, ahead of the 2027 election.

Reacting to the criticism, Nwifuru dismissed Chief Priest’s comments, saying he had no time for the businessman and describing him as a “noisemaker” and “nobody.”

The exchanges have added to the increasingly heated political atmosphere in Ebonyi as the major parties and their supporters begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
