Dauda Ali Biu, former FRSC Corps Marshal, dies at 62
Former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has died at the age of 62.
Biu reportedly died on Sunday evening at a hospital in Abuja, according to family sources.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported on Sunday that a nephew of the deceased, Adamu-Isa Gunda, confirmed the death, adding that his remains would be transported from Abuja to Chikaji, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State, for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Gunda said Biu, who held the traditional title of Jagaban Sabon Gari, is survived by his wife and five children.
Born in 1964 in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Biu served as FRSC Corps Marshal from July 2022 to 2024, following decades of service in the organisation.
He was appointed Acting Corps Marshal by former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2022 after his predecessor, Boboye Oyeyemi, retired upon completing his tenure.
Before his appointment, Biu served as Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw the organisation’s financial administration.
He joined the FRSC in 1988 and rose through the ranks during his career. In 2014, he was appointed Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts before becoming Deputy Corps Marshal in 2016.
Biu obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of National Accountants (FCNA).
