2027: ‘Vote ADC to at all levels’ – El-Rufai orders supporters
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at all levels in the 2027 general elections, according to his ally, Hajiya Hafsat Baba.
Baba, the ADC National Vice Chairman (North-West), disclosed this during a coalition meeting of support groups loyal to the former governor in Kaduna State.
She said El-Rufai had urged his supporters to remain united, peaceful and law-abiding as they mobilise to secure electoral victories for the ADC across the state.
According to her, the meeting was organised to bring the various support groups together, strengthen their coordination and establish a common strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
Baba said El-Rufai had specifically instructed his supporters to maintain unity, stressing that cooperation among the groups would be necessary to achieve their political objectives.
“Mallam also said I should tell you to remain united because it is only when we are united that we can achieve our goals during the election,” she said.
She added that the former governor’s message was for his supporters to vote for the ADC in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.
“We want to tell our people that this is the message from Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as verified by him: he wants us to vote for ADC at the federal level, state level, local government level, wards, and everywhere across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State,” Baba stated.
“We want Kaduna to be ADC. This is our responsibility, this is what we want to do, and this is what he wants us to do, and we are ready to do it.”
The ADC chieftain further disclosed that the coalition planned to develop a database of El-Rufai’s supporters across Kaduna State and organise regular meetings to improve communication and coordination among the groups.
She said the supporters were also committed to sustaining the former governor’s legacy, particularly in education, healthcare and empowerment.
“He has already laid the foundation, and it is left for us to continue with his legacy,” she said.
However, Baba expressed concern over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, specifically mentioning Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City.
She called on security agencies to strengthen their operations and protect residents, particularly those carrying out legitimate activities.
“We cannot afford to have people being kidnapped while they are carrying out their lawful duties,” she said.
Baba also alleged that more than 30 of El-Rufai’s supporters had been arrested about two weeks before the meeting. She questioned what she described as repeated arrests of people associated with the former governor.
She urged security agencies to remain impartial and carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the Constitution.
“They are government officials; they should not take sides, and they have to do their work according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she added.
The ADC national vice chairman urged the supporters to remain resilient and law-abiding, while expressing hope that El-Rufai would soon rejoin them.
Also speaking at the meeting, another ally of the former governor, Ibrahim Hussaini, dismissed suggestions that El-Rufai had lost his political support base.
Hussaini maintained that the former governor still enjoyed considerable support across Kaduna State and the northern region.
He described El-Rufai’s current circumstances as a test from God and expressed optimism that the situation could eventually strengthen his political standing.
He also urged the supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections, saying recent developments had exposed individuals whose loyalty to the former governor was not genuine, as some had already left his political camp.
