Peter Obi’s wife is Godmother to one of my children – Soludo finally admits
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed that the wife of former governor Peter Obi is the godmother of one of his children, months after public discussions over the relationship between the two families.
Soludo also disclosed that his wife, Nonye, is the confirmation godmother of Obi’s daughter, explaining the family ties that came under public scrutiny in September.
The governor made the clarification during an interview with BBC News Igbo on Monday, describing Obi as a close friend and maintaining that their families remained on good terms despite their political differences.
“Peter Obi and I are good friends. Our two families are on good terms. His wife was the godmother of my child at baptism, and my wife was the godmother of his child at confirmation,” Soludo said.
He explained that the disagreement between them was political, particularly over their preferred candidates for the governorship of Anambra State.
According to the governor, he had a different vision for the state’s leadership, while Obi supported the candidate he believed was suitable for the position.
Soludo said he did not hold Obi’s political preference against him, despite their differences during the governorship contest.
“I have a different vision of who should be governor of Anambra State. I am contesting, and he supported whoever he felt should be governor. I prevailed by the grace of God, and I don’t hold it against him,” the governor said.
His comments appear to clarify that the political disagreement between the two men did not extend to their family relationship.
