Despite Court ruling, Atiku leads ADC mega rally in Kebbi amid massive crowd
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have held a campaign rally in Kebbi State, attracting a massive crowd of supporters despite the recent Federal High Court judgment affecting the party’s leadership structure and Atiku’s presidential candidacy.
The rally, which took place on Thursday, witnessed a large turnout as supporters gathered to receive Atiku and other party leaders during the ADC’s ongoing mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The campaign event came barely a day after the Federal High Court in Abuja nullified the leadership of the Senator David Mark-led ADC executives and invalidated actions taken by the committee, including the process that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.
The judgment, delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, followed a suit filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, the party’s former National Deputy Chairman (North-East), who challenged the process through which the Mark-led leadership assumed control of the ADC.
The ruling has created fresh uncertainty over the party’s leadership and its preparations for the 2027 presidential election. However, the ADC has vowed to challenge the decision at the appellate court.
Despite the legal setback, Atiku and the party proceeded with their Kebbi campaign rally, where a large crowd turned out to welcome the former vice-president.
The development comes amid growing political and legal uncertainty over the ADC’s leadership and the status of its presidential ticket.
