ADC Court Verdict: Step down for Obi, support NDC – Isaac Fayose tells Atiku
Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has appealed to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to consider joining forces with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following Thursday’s Federal High Court judgment on the leadership crisis in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Fayose made the appeal in a public message to Atiku, urging him to study the court’s decision carefully, while expressing concerns about the independence of the judiciary.
“Atiku should go and study that judgment very well; he will notice something fishy. Our judiciary is no longer independent,” he said.
He also lamented what he described as the growing interest of Nigerian youths in online controversies rather than issues affecting the country.
Fayose urged Atiku to put aside political differences and work with Obi under the NDC platform, arguing that a united opposition could challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
“Please, Atiku, this is the time to join forces with Peter Obi in the NDC to pursue the APC out of power,” he added.
His appeal comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja nullified the leadership of the Senator David Mark-led ADC executives and invalidated actions taken by the committee, including the process that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.
The judgment has thrown the ADC’s leadership structure and preparations for the 2027 election into fresh uncertainty. The party has, however, indicated its intention to challenge the ruling at the appellate court.
Fayose’s intervention has added to the calls and political discussions surrounding possible opposition alliances following the court decision.
