BREAKING: El-Rufai to remain in DSS custody as Court adjourns bail hearing to March 31
A Federal High Court in Kaduna State has adjourned ruling on the bail application filed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, fixing March 31, 2026, for further proceedings.
The adjournment came after arguments were taken from both the prosecution and the defence during Tuesday’s sitting.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, appealed to the court to grant bail to his client, stressing his constitutional rights and the importance of giving him enough time and freedom to prepare his defence properly.
The prosecution, however, opposed the request, maintaining that the allegations against the former governor are weighty and that releasing him on bail could affect ongoing investigations.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to allow for further consideration of the issues raised. More details are expected as the case progresses.
