APGA unveils timetable ahead of Anambra LG primaries
The All Progressives Grand Alliance has released a provisional timetable for its 2026 Anambra State local government primary elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA said the timetable was approved in line with the party’s constitution and the schedule released by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
According to the timetable, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will take place at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat from January 27 to February 6.
It added that screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants will hold from Feb. 7 to Feb. 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
According to the schedule, appeals from the screening exercise will be resolved on Feb. 13 and Ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates are slated for Feb. 14.
“The chairmanship primary election will hold on Feb. 15 while appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on Feb. 16, all in Awka, it stated.
APGA fixed the cost of chairmanship forms at N6 million and councillorship forms at N600,000.00, noting that female aspirants and persons with disabilities would pay 50 per cent of the fees.
The party added that all payments were non-refundable and that dates remained subject to change.
It also urged intending aspirants to strictly comply with the stipulated guidelines and its electoral regulations.
